Mr Jeremiah Darlington Quainoo, a 43-year old petroleum product broker, is wanted by the Ghana Police Service Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for defrauding a petroleum company by false pretence.
In a warrant publication by the Ghana Police Service issued by the District Court at Kotobabi, Mr Jeremiah Darlington Quainoo is wanted for defrauding by false pretence with a serial code (SIU/CID HQTRS).
While preliminary action was taken, including two invitations extended to the suspect, he failed to respond to both invitations and has since gone into hiding.
According to Police CID sources, Mr Jeremiah Darlington Quainoo fraudulently obtained petroleum products from one of the leading petroleum companies and has since failed to honour payment.
Besides, he has refused to comply with law enforcement invitations despite several efforts.
Our investigations indicated that the matter was initially referred to the investigation division under the supervision of the Police Commander Chief Superintendent, Seth Sewornu.
Again, an accomplice in the case, one Mr. Nii, was arrested in connection with the matter. Following his arrest, the main suspect, Mr Jeremiah Darlington Quainoo, issued a cheque for GH¢650,000, after which the accomplice was granted bail.
Our investigations further revealed that, unfortunately, the cheque was dishonoured upon presentation, thereby bringing the total number of dishonoured cheques issued by the suspect in this matter to five (5).
“The persistent disregard for law enforcement invitations, coupled with the continued failure to settle the outstanding amount (GH¢2,150,000), points to a deliberate attempt to defraud our company,” police documents revealed.
To this end, the Police CID is, therefore, appealing to the general public to contact them on the following numbers +233 596053266 or +233 208599169 on the whereabouts of Mr Jeremiah Darlington Quainoo to face the law.
