A Volta Region Council of State member, Mr Gabriel Kwamigah Tanko, has pledged to cover the full cost of a water project valued at GH¢60,000 for the people of Sokode Ando in the Ho Municipality of the Volta Region.
According to him, the project aligns with his broader development agenda as a member of the Council of State, particularly the goal of ensuring access to potable water in every community across all districts in the Volta Region.
Mr Tanko gave the above assurance when he joined the Volta College Foundation (VCF), as a special guest of honour, at its 5th anniversary celebration over the weekend.
“What I found particularly striking was the deliberate alignment of the foundation’s initiatives with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This reflects a clear sense of purpose and a results-oriented approach to creating a meaningful long-term impact in areas such as clean water, education, and community well-being,” he said.
The event focused on raising funds to construct a mechanised borehole for the people of Sokode Ando in the Ho Central Municipality of the Volta Region.
Mr Tanko explained that another reason to fund the full cost of the project is to help improve healthcare delivery in the community.
“This is a community where even the local health centre does not have access to clean water. Safe-drinking water is not a luxury; it is a necessity,” he added.
He commended the VCF group for its consistent service to the people of the Volta and Oti regions.
“Their efforts continue to reflect a genuine concern for the well-being of communities and a strong drive to uplift others through impactful initiatives,” he commended the group.
Since its inception in 2019, the VCF has evolved into a well-structured and purpose-driven organisation, actively focused on advancing development and social progress across the Volta and Oti regions.
