Wa West MP Toobu Invests in Roads, Education, and Farming Support

Member of Parliament for the Wa West Constituency, Peter Lanchene Toobu, has reinforced government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and social services across the district, describing road development as “a key driver of inclusive growth and social equity.”

Mr. Toobu has contributed GH₵200,000 to the District Assembly to support rehabilitation of key roads and the construction of new ones through the DRIP machine. He disclosed that the Roads Minister has assured him and his constituents of major road developments, saying: “We have been promised significant road projects that will transform Wa West and open up opportunities for our people.”

The MP also highlighted government’s support for farmers in the constituency, including free fertilizers and other incentives to reduce production costs. He revealed that seized pumps from the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) have been redirected to support irrigation farming. “These pumps will help our farmers produce all year round and secure food for our communities,” he said.

On water access, Mr. Toobu acknowledged persistent challenges but pointed to the drilling of over 20 boreholes and other water projects as steps toward improving livelihoods.

Education, he stressed, remains one of his top priorities. “We cannot compromise on education. That is why I have initiated 12 kindergartens across communities and revived abandoned school projects left for 16 years,” he stated, adding that efforts are underway to expand Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) schools in the district.

The MP also touched on initiatives under health, emphasizing his commitment to making healthcare more accessible to residents.
