Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko have pledged a major rebuild following a disappointing 2025/26 Ghana Premier League campaign that saw the club finish 8th on the league table.
In a statement released on Monday, May 25, 2026, the Kumasi-based side admitted the outcome fell far below the expectations of the club, supporters and stakeholders, insisting the position does not reflect Kotoko’s rich history, ambition or status in Ghana football.
The Porcupine Warriors acknowledged that while setbacks are part of football, urgent action will now be taken to restore the club’s competitiveness and return the team to its traditional place at the top of Ghanaian football.
Despite the difficult season, management expressed appreciation to supporters across the country for standing by the club throughout the campaign. The statement described the fans as the heartbeat and foundation of Asante Kotoko, while also apologizing for the inconsistency and frustration witnessed on the pitch.
Kotoko further assured supporters that a comprehensive rebuilding process is already underway as the club looks to bounce back stronger next season and re-establish itself on the continental stage.
The club stressed that lessons learned from the disappointing campaign will influence future planning, recruitment and overall performance improvement.
The statement ended with a passionate appeal for unity, patience and continued support as the Reds prepare for what they believe will be a new era of revival.
