The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has opened talks with Jamaica over a possible international friendly as part of the Black Stars’ preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana are intensifying preparations for the global tournament, set to be hosted in the United States, Canada and Mexico, as the technical team looks to sharpen the squad ahead of the competition.
The Black Stars have already faced top opposition in recent months, including friendly matches against Austria, Germany and Mexico. However, inconsistent results and consecutive defeats led to the departure of former head coach Otto Addo.
Most recently, Ghana suffered a 2-0 loss to Mexico at the Estadio Cuauhtémoc in Puebla, with assistant coach Desmond Ofei overseeing the team during the international friendly.
The Black Stars were initially expected to conclude their pre-World Cup preparations with a fixture against Wales on June 2 at the Cardiff City Stadium. However, reports suggest newly appointed head coach Carlos Queiroz has requested an additional game to further assess his squad before the tournament begins.
As a result, discussions are now underway for a potential clash against Jamaica’s national team, the Reggae Boyz, in what could become a crucial test for both sides ahead of the World Cup.
